So the dining room doesn’t really function as a dining room…well, it does, but most of the time it’s The Companda’s office. And he has A Thing About Orange that I have never found it wise to fight. Meanwhile, I had a multi-year yen to paint a room Silver Fox, and so I figured a grey room with orange accent would work out (spoiler alert: it did).
OMG remember that time I ran a Tumblr? It’s coming back to me…
SO! Ages and ages ago, I painted my bedroom. The Companda, in his infinite wisdom, agreed with me that the color I wanted was, indeed, the most perfect turquoise in the world, and so that’s what we went with; Egyptian Green by Benjamin Moore. As usual, I can’t guarantee your monitor is showing the color in all its glory.
Hi, I have not forgotten about you/this blog. I was just busy actually doing all the renovations and then moving and then unpacking.
But now that that’s over with, let’s back up and talk about what the hell I ended up doing to the living room. I originally wanted to paint the ceiling a color but I got talked out of that decision (wisely). Instead, I decided to paint the trim around the top of the ceiling Silver Fox (because I like to make my life difficult), and the walls the lightest color on the same card as Silver Fox.
Both colors by Benjamin Moore, your monitor may be screwing up what those actually look like, blah blah blah the usual.
More importantly, after finally getting to paint a room in Silver Fox, I think I’m now actually more interested in Abalone, which is a shade lighter than Silver Fox but on the same color card. I KNOW, OKAY.
Without bothering to upload some badly-lit realtor photos, this is basically what my bathroom vibe is, minus the actual colors. (Also, I don’t have a mirror over the sink. Yes, I know.) The bathroom also has this weird mosaic tile floor featuring several shades of muddy yellow. I decided to just go with it and find a yellow that worked with the floor, and use that for the walls.
The problem is, most yellows are way sunnier than I actually like, especially when combined with a blue trim. (Yes, I’m doing blue trim. Don’t argue.) So after much throwing of paint swatches on the bathroom floor and saying either, “no” or “maybe”, I found a color combination that I’m psyched about:
Both colors by Benjamin Moore, and the usual disclaimer applies re: monitor calibrations and the actual color itself. On my MacBook, it looks like I’m telling y’all that I’ll be doing the walls in banana pudding with a mint green trim. Not true! It’s a rather interesting yellow/tan and a robin’s egg sort of blue.
